Can Google display Service-Area of Business Listings?

Can Google display Service-Area of Business Listings?

Do not worry! Google can display your service-area of businesses (SAOB) in Maps and in organic searches. You have the ability to define your service area by specifying the locations where you provide services. When users search for services in a particular area, Google may show your business that matches the search query if it falls within the specified service area.

How do you know whether or not to switch your business listing over to a SAOB?

Google defines a Service area Business as " A business that visits or delivers to customers directly, but doesn’t serve customers at their business address." The big detail that should indicate you marking your business as a service-area is if you do not directly serve customers at your businesses address. Some examples of a SAOB would be a plumbers, lawncare workers, and caterers.

To set up the service area for a business on Google, please follow these steps:
  1. Sign in to the Google Business Profile account associated with the business.
  2. Go to the "Info" section of the account.
  3. Look for the "Service area" field and click on the pencil/edit icon.
  4. Enter the areas where the business operates, such as cities, regions, or postal codes. The service area can be customized based on specific locations or a radius around the business.
  5. Save the changes.

You now have successfully updated your Business Profile listing to now be a service-area business. Google will slowly start to display your SAOB in relevant local search results and on Google Maps when users search for services within that area.
