How can I specify my EV charging stations in my Google Business Profile?

Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations is not an Attribute or a Category within Google Business Profile (GBP), so this requires a special connection to the Google Maps Content Partners program. While this program also focuses on non-business categories such as Parks and Protected Areas, Drone Imagery, Transit, etc. this article will focus on EV Charging Stations.

Since EV stations are not always directly associated with physical gas stations, setting up Google Maps locations for them can be difficult. That's where Maps Content Partners come in. The initial set-up does have a number of steps, and may require IT development resources. Google currently accepts two data formats for EV data:

1. Open Charge Point Interface
2. Google EV Location Feed Specifications

What if you only have a handful of locations and don't have the development resources for this program? One other possible solution is to suggest a public edit to the Google location. Of course, this requires your EV station to already be verified within Google. To suggest and edit, find your location on Google Maps, and select: Suggest an Edit and then Change name or other details, scroll down until you see Electric Vehicle Connectors
Suggest an edit-Change name or other details-Electric Vehicle Connectors
The different connector types to choose from are: J1772, CCS (Combo 1), Type 2, CCS (Combo 2), CHAdeMO, Tesla, Wall Outlet, Other.
Next enter the Power Output in kW.
Then, enter the quantity of this type of connector at this location.
If you have other types of connectors, select Add more connector types.
Lastly, hit Submit.

Note that making public edits on Google does not guarantee that the changes will be implemented.  It also appears that for stations with existing specifications, public edits are unavailable. The best method to ensure these specifications are added and you have control is going through the Google Content Partner process.
