How does Google calculate a view?

When Google made changes to their Performance Metrics in February 2023, they also changed how Views are counted. This is why you may notice a discrepancy year over year in your reporting.

Before February 2023: A View was counted any time someone came across your Google Business Profile (GBP) location. If the person was doing an extensive search and saw your location 10 times, that would count as 10 views.

After February 2023: A View is now counted uniquely to an individual. In the prior example of the extensive search, even if the user saw your location 10 times that day, it would only count as 1 view. You can see how that will artificially decrease your Views numbers year over year.
